A Fresh New Design

Comparison New Site Versus Old Site

With the new year here, Insight Creative, Inc. is happy to release its new website. The new design isn’t just an aesthetic change, but a complete overhaul of the frontend. Over the last few years development on the web has been changing at an extremely accelerated rate: HTTP/2 was released, there was a massive movement to improve performance due to mobile connectivity, ADA compliance has become a priority, and many other things released that we won’t have time to talk about here. With everything that happened, it was time that we upgraded our site.

Thanks to new techniques like img srcset, which allows you to set different images depending on the screen size, and cloud delivery networks that enable better caching and delivery of files, we are able to display much larger images without causing the website to load slower. In fact, sometimes even when displaying many larger images, pages are loading even faster than before when there were much smaller images being delivered.

Let’s compare the new homepage against the old homepage. Since the homepage is most likely the first page a visitor sees, it is essential that it loads fast not only on mobile but on desktop as well. You also want to keep in mind the amount of data that is on the page, since most mobile users have a data plan, which the website is going to use.

As you can see, the total load time and page size between the homepages is drastically different. This is in part due to the fact that the old homepage had an autoplay video that looped in the banner.

Optimizations aside, we wanted to bring more life and energy into the website. We accomplished this through new animations and imagery. For example, if you visit our culture page and hover over an employee’s bio, you’ll see a series of images that rotate out to show a little bit of their personality. This gives the staff bios so much more life than just showing a simple thumbnail!

We hope you enjoy the new design and have fun browsing all the awesome stuff here. Fingers crossed your new year starts off just as great as we feel ours has with this redesign!
